Scar
Scar is one of the clearest early roots of the later maintenance and repair ethics. A crashed bike is cut up. A cast body brace becomes trophy. Compression fractures, bodily memory, damage, and survival are not treated as private backstory but as material fact.
What later becomes machine care, rebuild logic, startup ritual, and continuation culture has a bodily precedent here. The practice does not arrive at maintenance as administration. It arrives there through injury, adaptation, and still riding the same machine.
Repair is not a softened afterthought in this practice. It begins as continuation under damage.
